Normally, each summer in Destin, and all along Florida's Emerald Coast, many international students come to work as "J1 Students," with a work/study (J1) Visa. Safe Harbor PCA and other local churches have been dedicated to welcoming these international students and helping them in practical ways.
This summer, due to the coronavirus, we do not expect many J1 students to be visiting our area. Hopefully this situation will change soon.
If you are a J1 student, please know that you are welcome to visit us and join in any of our activities! In the past, J1 students have come to our church, our Men's group, our small group Bible Study, and other church events. They have also joined us on the last Wednesday of every month in the church fellowship hall at 6 p.m. for a (free) pot-luck supper. We were also happy to connect them with volunteers who were happy to meet with them to answer questions, have them to their home for a meal, assist them with rides to the grocery store or Walmart, or help them in case of an emergency or other urgent need.
